Need a new Snowboard? Finding a great snowboard is
never easy.
Read this great guide to buying a snowboard.
Buying the right snowboard can make the biggest
difference in acheving your snowboarding potential. There
are basically five types of snowboarders and five types of
snowboards: Novice, Youth, Female Intermediate, Male Intermediate
and Expert.
The
average beginner should simply find a board that is the right
length and width. In order to decide what that perfect snowboard
size is, go to a local snowboard shop or larger retail sporting
goods store that carries snowboards. Take a snowboard off
of the rack and lay it on the floor (carpeted only!). If your
toes or heels hand off of the snowboard more than one inch
or 2.5 cm, the snowboard is too narrow for you. Find a wider
snowboard. If you stand the board on end, the top of the board
should be between your eyes and chin. See the size chart graphic
to the right. A little smaller or longer snowboard will not
make much of a difference but beginners are encouraged to
ride smaller boards because they are easier to manage.
Intermediate snowboarders should choose intermediate boards,
usually found in the $250-400 price range. Choose a board
that is stiff you are planning to become a more aggressive
snowboarder especially in the park and halfpipe. Stiffer boards
turn harder and carve better without losing an edge when you
hit a patch of ice or hard packed snow.
Experts already know what type of boards
they want to ride to meet their individual style. These boards
are usually pro models (designed by professional snowboarders
to meet specific needs) and more expensive than other boards.
