Columbia Outerwear provides mens and womens outerwear for athletes of ages and abilities. Every year they produce very high quality snowboarding pants and jackets. You will also find their gloves, mittens and boots to be very warm and comfortable.
Here is a brief history of the Columbia Sportswear Company. In 1938 the family-owned and operated hat distributor began operations. Since then they have become one of the world's largest outerwear brands and the leading seller of snow apparel in the United States. They strive to make all Columbia Outwear functional and stylish while offering their snowboard clothing at a great value.
Gert Boyle has been the Chairman of the Board while her son Tim Boyle acts as the company president and CEO. Few people know that Gert's parents fled from Germany in 1937 and bought a hat distributorship in Portland, Oregon. They called their new venture Columbia Hat Company, named for the Columbia River. Columbia outerwear would have to wait several decades before its conception.
Finally Columbia Outerwear began in the 70s and they were the first company to make jackets from waterproof and breathable fabric. Where would snowboarding jackets, pants and gloves be today without this technology?
In 1998 the company allowed for public investors to buy stock shares allowing Columbia Outerwear to move even further into the snowboard clothing industry.
