New Shapes, Sizes and Technology in the 2005 Burton Snowboard Line Make Riding More Fun!

Burton Snowboards acquires Four Star Distribution!

Burlington, VT- A rider who eats powder for breakfast and devours the park in the afternoon. A rider who has seen every Jeremy Jones’ film part and would give his pinky finger to ride like him.

A rider who learned her first grab on the original Burton Air. A rider who has the most common men’s foot size, a 10 and a half, and wants the performance a Mid-Width board will give him. In 2005, Burton created boards specifically for all of these riders, with new shapes, widths and designs that will make days on the hill in 2005 more fun than ever before.

Always pushing to create the next big innovation, Burton also introduces some revolutionary new tech in the 2005 board line like the 10:45 sidewall – an extra-meaty sidewall that strengthens boards so they withstand gnarly rails and hidden dangers that lurk beneath the snow. The 2X insert pattern is also a breakthrough innovation for Burton that results in fewer binding screw inserts in the board and enables riders to adjust their stance in ½” increments. Another major advancement is Burton’s new Pro-Tip that reduces the amount of weight and material in the nose and tail of the board, which are critical swing weight areas. Thanks to the new Pro-Tip, Burton reduced the swing weight on the Jussi, Jeremy, Powers and Raven boards for smooth, effortless spins and an overall lighter construction.

In the 2005 board line, more boards than ever feature Burton’s revolutionary Infinite Ride technology, which results in a snowboard that will maintain a consistent feel season after season. Think of it this way: When you get a new baseball glove, it always works better once you break it in. That’s the concept behind Infinite Ride. We overbuild a board and break it in, which allows the board to retain its shape and ride characteristics throughout its life. For riders who place high levels of stress on their snowboards, which can change the board’s ride characteristics over time, Infinite Ride is truly a breakthrough.

All of this new tech means more fun times at the mountain, and that’s what it’s all about. So sit back, and take a first look at a few of Burton’s noteworthy boards for 2005.

Burton Malolo Snowboard
Meaning “flying fish” in Hawaiian, the Malolo is just that – a board that can float and fly at the same time. With a revolutionary new shape, the Malolo doubles as a supreme powder machine, gliding through the morning’s fresh tracks and a freestyle powerhouse that can take on the park kickers in the afternoon. Terje Haakonsen’s unconventional thinking led to the creation of the Malolo, which has a moderate 20mm of taper for serious float and an effortless glide over virgin powder. Because of its shape, the Malolo remains equally playful on groomers and rides as smoothly switch as it does regular. Designed to ride shorter than a regular board and with a slightly setback stance, the Malolo blends precision cornering in any snow condition with superior stability at straight-line speeds. The Malolo’s ability to fly through snow of any depth lets you use the entire mountain as a natural terrain park. Featuring an overprinted cherry wood inlay, the topsheet artwork represents the sun as viewed from underwater, staying true to the Malolo’s surf-inspired design. MSRP: $499.95

Burton Triumph Snowboard
Introducing Burton’s first Mid-Width board, designed for the most common men’s foot size, a 10.5. With a wider waist width than our conventional boards built around a men’s size nine, but a smaller waist width than our wide boards for men’s size 11 and up, the Triumph is ideal for the average guy’s foot. The next breed of progressive big-mountain battle-axes, the Triumph’s slightly tapered shape redefines the balance of float, speed and versatility that can be packed into one board. The Triumph offers stability at high speeds, while delivering the width needed to float over bottomless pow. Featuring Burton’s breakthrough Infinite Ride® technology, the Triumph’s flex has already been tuned and reinforced with dual warp glass, so after your two-hundredth day on snow, the flex will still feel like it did the first day you took it out. Tested and developed in the Wasatch, Teton and Cascade ranges, we reinforced the Triumph with our new beefy 10:45 sidewall to withstand the everyday use and abuse that freeriding presents. A cherry wood inlay and metallic foil stamp on the Triumph’s topsheet add an air of royalty. MSRP: $499.95

Burton Jeremy Jones Snowboard
Whether he’s shattering street rail standards or charging backcountry booters worldwide, Jeremy Jones doesn’t quit until his footage is perfect. The same attitude holds true for his two uniquely engineered freestyle models. The torsionally forgiving 151 delivers mad pop for Jeremy’s all-around skate-influenced jib style and gives smaller riders the best performance possible. The 156 gives Jeremy the stability and snap needed to destroy heavy-hitting kickers with ease. We reinforced both models with the added meat of the 10:45 sidewall, engineered to withstand the abuse of attacking every element you lay eyes on. Artist Nate Vandyke created Jeremy’s graphics, complete with a signature-etched gold tip protector. MSRP: $499.95

Burton Air Snowboard
Back in the day, there was a board that dominated all others – the Burton Air. Deep within the darkest catacomb of our board lab, Burton scientists uncovered the cryogenically frozen genetic code of this board that was light-years ahead of its time. Thus, the Air was born again. Rebuilt from scratch, the new Air incorporates technology worlds beyond the time it once ruled back in the early nineties. The all-new Air blends pop and strength and a directional shape with smooth edge-to-edge transitioning for a technically superior ride. Designed to throw down, the Air possesses energetic snap, response and stompability unlike any other. All-terrain freestyle perfection is back among the living, at a price that will give you flashbacks of the mid-‘90s. As for the graphics, the chrome air disc logo and aluminum base inlay give proper respect to the original Air. MSRP: $399.95
