2005 BURTON BOOTS – Developed for Riding and Fit Supremacy

Burton Snowboards claims they did not want a ski company to buy Four Star. (read more)

Burlington, VT – A tremendous amount of breakthrough tech, research and fit testing went into Burton’s 2005 boots. But when one of the pros puts them on, they don’t usually ask about tech. They want to know if a boot is going to have enough support when they’re hitting the same booter for eight hours at a photo shoot in Saas Fee. They want to make sure it’s not going to bite into their calves during all night rail sessions. They don’t want their toes to go numb during a heli shoot in Alaska. And of course, they want the boots to look dope and feel cush. These are a few of the things the riders care about, and Burton boots have superior fit and tech features so the pros can do their job right.

Because of the many impressive features in the 2005 line, Burton boots live up to the team’s high expectations. Burton’s revolutionary Imprint EVA liner is featured in more boots than ever before. Super lightweight, responsive and flexible, the Imprint liner can be heat molded to literally form to a rider’s own foot contours and shapes. The resulting comfort and performance leaves riders wondering how they ever rode in anything else. Burton boot tongues and binding straps feature new, ergonomically shaped Triple Axis Tongue and Strap technology to provide a gapless fit between Burton boot and binding straps. New Speed Zone lacing is another feature the team is raving about, providing zonal lacing options for ultimate fit, comfort and customization. Speed Zone lacing makes it incredibly easy to get in and out of boots – pull one lace to tighten the upper portion of the boot and another to tighten the lower portion – that’s it. And there’s also our Articulated Cuff design that splits the boot shell into two components, allowing the upper and lower halves to flex independently for a fluid, natural flex. The design is super supportive, yet has a soft flex – two features that were mutually exclusive before we created the Articulated Cuff design. So if all that boot tech keeps the pro riders happy when they’re on snow year round, it’ll definitely keep you riding strong season after season. That said, here are the details on a few key Burton boots for the 2005 season.

Burton SL7 Boot
The SL7 brings the future of lightweight boot technology to today’s discriminating freestyle riders. With a minimalist design that packs every high-performance feature in Burton’s arsenal, the SL7’s construction represents the ultimate in efficient boot construction. By building the SL7 around its own shell last, the overall footprint of the boot is reduced to minimize toe and heel drag without affecting the superior fit. The super lightweight, low profile outsole incorporates a hidden midsole to provide a lowered center of gravity, enhanced board feel and efficient power transfer. Built around an articulating cuff design, the shell’s upper and lower halves flex independently to create fluid forward flex making the SL7 as comfortable in the park as it is in the backcountry. Burton also incorporated Powershell TPU panels to provide excellent rebound and durability. Strap the SL7 into the new C60 binding and nothing will stand in your way. MSRP: $379.95

Burton Ion Boot
The superior interface between body and binding, the Ion fuses powerful performance into the most advanced snowboard boot on the planet. Built around a durable, full synthetic leather shell with full-length backstay, the Ion offers explosive response and moderate flex for all-terrain freestyle outlaws like Ross Powers, Jussi and Japanese prodigy Kazu Kokubo. Clean on styling, but filthy rich on function, the ultralight Ion features the all-new Speed Zone Lacing. This innovative lacing system is designed so that you can independently tighten the upper and lower halves of the boot for a custom fit unlike any other. To increase snow sensitivity, Burton engineered an all-new ultra-light outsole to transfer maximum board feel to your feet for increased control on rails, groomers, powder and kickers. The outsole features a shock-dampening SKYDEX heel unit designed and engineered exclusively for Burton Snowboard boots. MSRP: $329.95

Burton Sabbath Boot
With a design fueled by style-minded riders like the UnInc crew, the Sabbath is the only answer for complete command over jib and kicker creativity. Blending tech wizardry and premium materials with a new take on an old-school hippy burnout moccasin, the Sabbath shows how skate-influenced riders are redefining style yet again. The buttery soft full suede leather shell with sheepskin fleece accents, antique bronze hardware and cross-stitching details give the Sabbath a distinct look that will insure that your set up is well ahead of the Weekend Warriors that invade your hill on a weekly basis. With the Sabbath, cutting-edge style and uncompromising freestyle prowess become one. MSRP: $269.95
